Teen Animal Advocate Program

The Baldwin Humane Society is now seeking candidates for our 2026-2027 Teen Animal Advocate Program.  This 7-month program provides young adults (16 years and older) with hands-on experience working with animals, opportunities to engage with the community about animal welfare and mentor opportunities from active members of the humane society.  Teen Animal Advocates will gain first-hand knowledge of how our non-profit organization works while being an active participant in helping vulnerable animals in our community.  

Teen Animal Advocates will:

                *Attend group meetings once a month (Fall Schedule- Oct. 20, November 17, December 15) to discuss various animal welfare issues and outreach opportunities.

                *Volunteer with the Humane Society at adoption events, the office, and the kennel.  Volunteers will be expected to log a minimum of 4 and a maximum of 8 hours per month.  Most volunteer opportunities will be available on Tuesdays and Thursdays after school. 

                *Conduct an outreach project focused on promoting and assisting the Baldwin Humane Society and its mission.  For Example, TAAP students can organize a pet supplies drive on behalf of the animals at our shelter.

Applications are due by Tuesday, September 22, 2026.  If selected, a short, informal interview will be scheduled.  Applicants will be notified of their status by early October.

Please share this opportunity with your student body and any students you think would benefit most from this opportunity.  Several of our past TAAP teens have gone on to attend veterinary school, worked with other non-profits and continued to help animals in their communities.

Requirements:

·         16 years or older

·         GPA 3.0 +

·         Teacher to be contacted for A recommendation

·         1 short question response

·         Love of animals!
