2023 - 2024 Teen Animal Advocate Program

The Baldwin Humane Society is now seeking candidates for our 2023-2024 Teen Animal Advocate Program. We are thrilled to share that last year’s inaugural program was very successful. This program provides young adults (16 years and older) with hands on experience in working with the Humane Society as well as opportunities to learn about animal welfare concerns in our community. Teen Animal Advocates will gain first-hand knowledge of how our non-profit organization works to solve problems by engaging the public. We plan to select a small group of Baldwin County students to become our 2023-2024 Teen Animal Advocates.

Teen Animal Advocates will:

*Attend monthly meetings on various animal welfare, outreach, and future professional opportunity topics. Meetings will take place on evenings of the second Tuesday of each month at the Baldwin Humane Society offices located in Fairhope and will last approximately 1 hour. (Meetings held in October, November, December, January, February, March and April).

*Volunteer with the Humane Society at adoption events, the office, and the kennel. Volunteers will be expected to be able to log a minimum of 4 hours per month.

*Conduct an outreach project focused on animal welfare at their school or in their community. (Examples include: organize a drive to gather specific items needed by the kennel, create a presentation to share with their student body about animal welfare, coordinate an animal welfare themed story time for younger children)

Applications are due September 16.  If selected, a short in-person interview will be scheduled members from the Baldwin Humane Society staff, board and committee members.  Applicants will be notified of their status by early October.
