The Animal Wellness Center of Fairhope will host the 5th Annual “Bathing for BARC!” fundraiser for the Baldwin County Humane Society (BARC!) on April 30, 2011.
Dr. Stephanie Powe, DVM, has organized the annual fundraiser since its inception in 2007. “Bathing for BARC!" will be held at her new location, Animal Wellness Center of Fairhope on 21309 State Highway 181 from 9am to 1pm.
“Between the raffle items, silent auction items, tip jars for dog baths and donations from veterinary suppliers, $4,500 has been raised over the past four years” Dr Powe stated. “We chose BARC! because we wanted to give back to the local Humane Society.”
Sponsors this year are Merial (makers of Heartgard & Frontline), Bayer (makers of K-9 Advantix, Advantage & Advantage Multi), MWI and Butler Veterinary Distributors.
Every person who brings their dog to “Bathing for BARC!” gets a free goodie bag. Platinum donors of $50 or more receive a goodie bag full of exclusive items valued at $150.
“We rely on fundraisers like this so we can help the abused, abandoned and injured animals” remarked Sonja Presley, BARC! Executive Director. “Animal shelters are full, foreclosures are prevalent and pet parents are having to make tough, heart-breaking decisions they never thought they would have to make.”
